Domain names are inexpensive. You can pay anywhere between $8.00 to $11.00 for a domain. That price covers you for an entire year.
What is hosting?
A hosting account is basically the space you pay for to hold your website (photos, resume, content, etc). You can also get hosting from many different places online. Godaddy.com also provides hosting. If you get a domain with them then it makes sense to get your hosting with them too so you have both of them under the same account. What do I need to get my website started?
After you've decided on how many pages you will need and payment has been received, you will then need to email what you would like added to the website. Most clients ask their designer for the following:
- Homepage (introduction page)
- Resume page (word doc or pdf resume with your credits)
- Bio page (write about yourself, likes, special talents, recent projects, etc)
- Photos page (up to 10 photos)
- Contact page (Name, email, phone)
- customozation of their magento cms system
If you have a hosting account then you would need to set up an FTP username and password. If you are not experienced with this don't worry. We can set this up for you. You would need to include the godaddy customer number and password. The FTP username and password allows us to put your website on your web hosting space.
